In the summer of 2016, a young woman's life was tragically cut short in New Orleans. Hasahn Shawl, a 24-year-old female, was killed by gunfire on July 21, 2016. The incident that claimed her life unfolded at an apartment complex on Chef Menteur Highway.
Following the shooting, the New Orleans Police Department began an investigation into her death. Their efforts led to the identification of a suspect in the case.
An arrest was subsequently made in connection with the killing of Hasahn Shawl.
The individual taken into custody was identified as Carlos Heard. He was later formally charged with murder in her death, bringing a measure of progress in the pursuit of justice for Hasahn and her loved ones.
