On February 6, 2017, Latonya Robinson Moore, a 34-year-old African American woman, was tragically killed in her New Roads, Louisiana home. Her life was cut short in a violent act that stemmed from a domestic dispute with her partner, Isac Maloid. The argument escalated to a fatal conclusion when Maloid shot Moore before taking his own life.

The first indication of the tragedy came when Moore's child ran out of the house, alerting arriving police officers with the harrowing words, 'he shot my mom.' Inside the residence, law enforcement discovered a grim scene. Moore had been fatally wounded, and Maloid was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
The investigation conducted by the New Roads Police Department concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide. Authorities identified Isac Maloid as the perpetrator. Due to Maloid also being deceased at the scene, the case was closed, with no further arrests or legal proceedings.
