In the New Orleans neighborhood of St. Roch, a burst of violence on May 1, 2017, cut short the life of 25-year-old Ferniqua 'Muffin' Johnson. The shooting, which also left a 23-year-old man wounded, prompted a police investigation that would soon center on a single suspect.
