Zion Barthelemy, a 13-year-old male, tragically lost his life on Friday, May 5, 2017, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The incident occurred at the Mallard Crossing apartment complex where Zion and two of his friends, aged 12 and 13, were playing with a loaded handgun. The afternoon took a devastating turn when the firearm discharged, striking Zion in the head. One of the friends had reportedly taken the gun from his stepfather without permission.
