Donald Smart, a 49-year-old Black man, was tragically shot and killed on September 14, 2017, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Smart was walking to his overnight shift as a dishwasher at a local restaurant when he was shot in a park near Louisiana State University. The incident was part of a series of attacks by Kenneth Gleason, a 27-year-old white man, who was later found guilty of first-degree murder.
