On January 1, 2018, 29-year-old African American male Trenity Grimes was fatally shot in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The incident occurred around 1:45 a.m. on Balis Drive, near College Drive and Interstate 10. Grimes was found at the scene suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. This marked the first homicide in Baton Rouge for the year 2018.
