At approximately 10:30 p.m., while standing at the corner of East Washington and Jerry Streets, Oliver was engaged in a phone conversation with his girlfriend. In an instant, a truck appeared, and gunfire erupted from the vehicle in a brazen drive-by shooting.
Struck by the bullets, Oliver fell into a nearby ditch. A witness at the scene acted quickly, transporting him to a local hospital, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
