In the quiet town of Laplace, Louisiana, a horrific act of violence shattered the evening of May 29, 2018, claiming the lives of 4-year-old African American Cali Mack and her 29-year-old father, Cameron Mack. The two were returning to their apartment in the 100 block of Joe Parquet Circle when they were ambushed. Cameron was carrying his daughter and a bag of groceries up the stairs to their second-floor apartment when a gunman emerged from the darkness and opened fire.
