Sir James Davis, an 18-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on July 8, 2019, in New Roads, Louisiana. The incident occurred late at night when Jaquan Battley, another young man, shot and killed Sir James Davis just before 9:00 PM. The shooting took place on St. Ann Street, where Davis had gone to purchase marijuana from an individual named "Billy."
