In the summer of 2019, a burst of gunfire shattered the evening calm in New Roads, Louisiana, leaving an 18-year-old man dead and ultimately exposing the violent undercurrents of a local street gang. The life of Sir James Davis, a young male, was cut short on July 8, 2019, following a confrontation in the parking lot of a food mart on Highway 10. The incident, which began as a fight, escalated tragically, and despite being rushed to a local hospital, Davis succumbed to his injuries.
