In the afternoon hours of May 27, 2020, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace at an apartment complex on Centenary Boulevard in Shreveport, Louisiana, leaving 28-year-old Travarrius Adams fatally wounded. Responding to a shooting call shortly after 2:00 p.m., Shreveport Police officers discovered Adams inside a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot injuries.
He was swiftly transported to Ochsner LSU Health, but tragically succumbed to his wounds.
The ensuing investigation by Violent Crimes and Crime Scene Investigators painted a grim picture of the events that transpired. It was determined that two vehicles had pulled up alongside each other in the parking lot of the apartment complex just before the shooting erupted. Through the meticulous gathering of evidence, which included witness interviews and video surveillance footage, detectives were able to piece together the sequence of events and identify a suspect.
The investigation led to 25-year-old Antonio Johnson being identified as the individual allegedly responsible for the death of Travarrius Adams. A warrant was subsequently issued for Johnson's arrest on a charge of second-degree murder, with his bond set at $150,000. For a time, Johnson remained at large, with known addresses in the 6500 block of Fairfield Avenue and the 2700 block of Myrtle Street. However, the search for him concluded on July 9, 2020, when he surrendered himself to authorities at the Caddo Correctional Center.
