In the warm evening of June 20, 2020, in New Orleans, Louisiana, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace and irrevocably altered the course of a woman's life. Kimberly Wright, a 34-year-old female, was in the Pines Village area of New Orleans East, specifically in the 6000 block of Downman Road, when she was struck by at least one bullet. In the immediate aftermath of the
shooting, a private vehicle was used to transport Kimberly, in a desperate attempt to reach a hospital and the life-saving care she urgently needed. However, the severity of her injuries was too great. While on the way, the vehicle was flagged down by New Orleans Police Department officers near the intersection of Gentilly Boulevard and Franklin Avenue. It was there, in the middle of the street, that Kimberly Wright was pronounced dead, her life tragically cut short.
