On the evening of September 7, 2020, Andrew Lafleur III, a 39-year-old male, was fatally shot at a residence in Moss Bluff, a community near Lake Charles, Louisiana. A lifelong resident of Southwest Louisiana, Lafleur was a dedicated paramedic and personal trainer. He had also served his country as a combat medic in the Louisiana Army National Guard, completing two tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.
Responding to the incident, the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office launched an
investigation that led to the arrest of an 11-year-old boy, who was identified as a relative of Lafleur. The juvenile was subsequently charged with second-degree murder. Due to his age, the authorities did not release the name of the suspect or the specific nature of his relationship to the victim.
