In the quiet community of Independence in St. Helena Parish, Louisiana, a tragedy unfolded that left a family grieving and a community in shock. On November 30, 2020, 21-year-old Eric Harrison, an African American male, was found deceased in the front yard of his home on Harrison Road. The young man had suffered from multiple gunshot wounds, a violent end to a life that had just begun.
