In the quiet town of Scott, Louisiana, a heartbreaking tragedy unfolded on March 9, 2021, forever altering the lives of a local family. Kynlie Vaughn Boudreaux, a 14-year-old Caucasian female, was found deceased in her home. A student at L.J. Alleman Fine Arts Magnet Academy, Kynlie was known for her love of dance, having been a dedicated dancer at Lacey's Dance World for 13 years.
Her life, full of promise and creativity, was cut tragically short.
The Scott Police Department responded to a call in the early morning hours, around 5:50 a.m., discovering a scene of immense sorrow. Inside the residence, they found Kynlie and her 51-year-old father, Kendall Boudreaux, both having sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head. Kynlie's mother, Jan Kellie Pryor Boudreaux, was also found at the scene with serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition.
The subsequent investigation by the Lafayette Parish Coroner's Office determined that Kynlie's death was a homicide, and her father's was a suicide. The incident was classified as a murder-suicide, with Kendall Boudreaux identified as the sole perpetrator. As a result, the investigation concluded without any further arrests or the naming of other suspects. The community was left to mourn the profound loss of a young life, with the school district providing additional counselors and social workers to support students and staff in the wake of the tragedy.
