In the early morning hours of May 8, 2021, the life of Jason Baglio, a 47-year-old male, was tragically cut short in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Deputies from the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office responded to reports of gunfire on Homestead Drive around 3:30 a.m. and found Baglio suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Baglio was a beloved figure in his community, known for his performances as an Elvis Presley tribute artist under the stage name 'Jayson Alfano.' Beyond his musical talents, he was the head chef for the Livingston Council on Aging, where he was instrumental in developing the organization's new kitchen.
The investigation quickly identified two suspects: Baglio's 28-year-old stepson, Trace Pigott, and Pigott's father, 53-year-old Tommy Ray Pigott. Authorities determined that the father and son had fled the scene after the shooting. An argument reportedly preceded the fatal shooting when Trace and Tommy Ray Pigott went to Baglio's home, where Trace's mother also lived, to confront the couple and take Trace's infant child. Both men were apprehended in New Orleans shortly after the incident.
Following their arrests, Trace Pigott was charged with second-degree murder, while his father, Tommy Ray Pigott, faced a charge of principal to second-degree murder. In June 2021, a grand jury indicted Trace Pigott on the second-degree murder charge. The case against him, however, has not proceeded to trial. In March 2023, a judge ruled that Trace Pigott was mentally incompetent to stand trial. Medical experts concluded that he would not be restored to competency in the foreseeable future. As a result, legal proceedings have been halted, and he was ordered to continue receiving mental health treatment.
