On a Friday afternoon in Boston, the life of 31-year-old Carlos Romero-Franco was brought to a violent and abrupt end. It was October 16, 2009, when police received a call for a person shot inside an apartment at 598 Harvard Street in the Mattapan neighborhood. Arriving at the scene at approximately 3:35 p.m., officers discovered Romero-Franco suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, and his death was quickly ruled a homicide by the medical examiner.
