On April 9, 2014, Joel Leon, a 19-year-old resident of Milton, Massachusetts, was fatally shot in the South Boston neighborhood. Police responded to reports of gunfire at around 7:54 p.m., finding Leon with gunshot wounds near the intersection of W. 5th Street and Dorchester Street. Despite attempts to save him, Leon was pronounced dead at the scene.
