Ravenscraft, who was working overtime to support his pregnant wife, Cynthia, and their two children, became the first victim in a deadly crime spree orchestrated by Gary Rardon. Rardon, a convicted serial killer, embarked on a series of robberies and murders in Chicago from November 14 to November 18, 1974.
