On June 20, 1993, following the Chicago Bulls' victory over the Phoenix Suns, the city erupted in widespread celebrations that quickly turned violent. In the midst of the chaos, 12-year-old Michael Lowery was sitting in front of his home in a middle-class South Side neighborhood when he was struck in the head by a stray bullet. Despite immediate medical attention, Michael succumbed to his injuries, marking a tragic end to what should have been a joyous occasion. ((
