Deon Freeman, a 26-year-old African American male, was fatally shot on March 21, 2012, in the South Side Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred at approximately 10:08 a.m. when Freeman was exiting a convenience store located at 1607 W. 72nd St. He was accompanied by an older man who had just bought him a pop.
