Travon Beech, a 15-year-old African American male from North Chicago, IL, tragically lost his life on April 17, 2014. Travon, an eighth-grade student at Neal Math & Science Academy, was found dead in an alley in the 1400 block of Jackson Avenue. He had been shot in the head, and a 9-mm gun shell casing was discovered next to his body. His mother, Roxanne Beech, was notified of his death by police early that morning.
