On the evening of April 18, 2012, in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston, a young African-American man named Dametri J. Jones had his life cut short at the age of 20. Responding to a call for a person shot at 871 River Street, Boston Police officers discovered the scene of the fatal incident. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner would later determine that Dametri’s death was a homicide caused by a gunshot wound.
