In the early hours of August 14, 2021, Edgar Matthews, a 39-year-old Black/African American male from Mattapan, was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 3:18 a.m. in the vicinity of 37 Almont Street in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Matthews suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the location of the shooting.
