Derrick Booth Jr., a 22-year-old African American male from Peoria, Illinois, tragically lost his life on May 24, 2014. Derrick, affectionately known as DJ, was the son of Manual Academy basketball coach Derrick Booth Sr. and stepson of state Representative Jehan Gordon-Booth. He was pronounced dead at 2:55 a.m. at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center after being found with a gunshot wound to the chest on the porch of a residence at 813 S.
