On a cold January evening in 2014, tragedy struck in Boston's South End. On January 14th, at approximately 5:58 PM, police responded to a report of a person shot at 996 Tremont Street. Upon arrival, officers learned that the victim had already been transported to a local hospital. The man, identified as 34-year-old Ricky McKinney, who was also known as Ricky Night, was pronounced dead by emergency physicians.
