In the late summer of 2015, a wave of violence swept through Boston, and among the victims was a 27-year-old Black/African American man named Tedford "TJ" Davis Jr. On August 29, 2015, Davis, a resident of Brockton and a loving father of five children, was fatally shot in the Dorchester neighborhood of the city. His death marked the 21st homicide in Boston that year and was part of a particularly violent night that saw a total of five people shot in separate incidents across the city.
