Do you know what happened to Alberto Monteiro-Pire? On a street in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston, 21-year-old Alberto Monteiro-Pires, a Black male, was fatally shot in the early evening of Tuesday, September 5, 2017. The incident occurred in the vicinity of 152 Washington Street, where police responded to a report of a person shot at approximately 6:09 p.m. Upon their arrival, officers discovered Monteiro-Pires suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the aftermath of the shooting, investigators began to piece together the events that led to Monteiro-Pires's death. Their efforts led them to identify a suspect, and a warrant for murder was issued out of Dorchester District Court for 23-year-old Djosue Dossantos of Dorchester. For several years, the whereabouts of Dossantos remained unknown as he actively eluded capture. He was featured on the Boston Police Department's Most Wanted list as investigators continued their search for him.
The pursuit of justice for Alberto Monteiro-Pires came to a significant turning point nearly four years after his death. On August 20, 2021, members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit, in collaboration with the Brockton Police Department, successfully located and apprehended Djosue Dossantos in Brockton. Following his arrest, Dossantos was arraigned in Dorchester District Court on the charge of murder. The resolution of the case in the courts is pending further legal proceedings.
