Lucille Barnes, a 34-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on June 23, 2015, in Chicago, Illinois. Lucille was attempting to break up a fight on the corner of 75th and Stewart in the Englewood neighborhood, a notoriously violent area of the city. During this altercation, a car drove by, and shots were fired, striking and killing Lucille. This incident not only took the life of a young mother but also left the community in shock and mourning.
