Devone Matthews, a 21-year-old African American male, was tragically shot and killed on June 25, 2015, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the North Side Edgewater neighborhood, specifically at the Express Car Wash located on the 5900 block of North Ridge Avenue. According to reports, Matthews was inside the car wash around 4:45 p.m. when an assailant entered the premises, pulled out a handgun, and fired several shots, striking Matthews in the back.
