On October 28, 2018, at approximately 10:55 a.m., 23-year-old Kenjuan D. Scott was traveling with a 24-year-old woman in a vehicle in the 5500 block of South LaSalle Street in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood. As they proceeded, an individual inside a black, four-door Audi opened fire on their vehicle. Scott sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The woman accompanying him suffered a gunshot wound to her leg and received treatment at the same hospital.
Following an extensive investigation, authorities arrested a 20-year-old man in East Vienna, Illinois, on charges related to the 2018 shooting. Due to the fact that he was a minor at the time of the incident, his identity has not been disclosed. He faces charges of first-degree murder for the death of Kenjuan Scott and attempted first-degree murder for the injury inflicted upon the 24-year-old woman. The suspect was scheduled to appear in bond court following his arrest.
