On August 2, 2015, Theodore Hill and his lifelong friend, 28-year-old
Zarra Laws Strickland, were riding in a car when they were fatally shot. Their bodies were discovered two days later in a secluded area west of Danville, each with bullet wounds to the head. The investigation into their deaths led to the arrest of Glen T. Torres Jr., a 31-year-old man from Indianapolis, formerly of Danville. Torres was accused of shooting Hill and Strickland while they were in the car, and he was subsequently charged with first-degree murder.
The case went to trial in Vermillion County Circuit Court, where Torres was found guilty of first-degree murder in April 2019. During the trial, a prosecution witness testified that they were driving the car when Torres shot Hill and Strickland.
