On June 24, 2014, Lanedria Grant, age 49, was fatally shot in East Oakland, California, in the Brookfield Village neighborhood. Grant, who was also the aunt of Oscar Grant III, was killed in the 600 block of Douglas Avenue around 6:45 p.m. During the incident, another man was also injured but survived. It remains unclear whether Lanedria Grant was the intended target, and no clear motive has been identified for the shooting.
