Donta J. Lee, a 29-year-old African American male, was tragically shot to death on August 2, 2016, in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago. The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. while Lee was walking on a sidewalk in the 5200 block of West Gladys Avenue. According to reports from the Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, a gunman exited a white car and opened fire on Lee, striking him in the chest.
