Death by Force

Vincent Winkfield, a 28-year-old African American man from Chicago, IL, was tragically shot in the head on August 12, 2016, in the 400 block of North Lavergne Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood. Winkfield was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries three days later on August 15, 2016. The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed his death, and the incident was classified as a homicide.
