Jamie was born on March 30, 2001, and was a beloved member of his community. He had a strong passion for basketball and played for four years with the Rock River Valley YMCA. He also played football for one year with the Jefferson J-Hawks and was involved in various bible camps and youth groups.

On the fateful day of June 14, 2017, Jamie was found in an alley behind 928 Kent St. in Rockford. He had been shot in the head and was discovered hours later. The case remained unsolved for nearly three years until a tip led to the identification of several witnesses. This breakthrough in the investigation eventually led to the arrest and conviction of Donterrius Barnett, a 37-year-old man from Rockford. Barnett was sentenced to 65 years in prison for first-degree murder.
