Za’Shawn Alexander Sylva Coats, a 15-year-old African American male from Rockford, Illinois, tragically lost his life on January 21, 2019. Born on July 18, 2003, Za’Shawn was a sophomore at Jefferson High School and was known for his fun and loving nature. He was walking with friends in the area of Kent and Ferguson Streets when he was approached by 27-year-old Juan Mora.
