The investigation into Derrick Murray's death led to the arrest of two suspects, Javon Almond and Ronnie Burnett, both members of the Mafia Insane Vice Lords street gang. Javon Almond, 22, and Ronnie Burnett, 23, were each charged with first-degree murder. The police recovered approximately 30 shell casings from the scene, which were fired from three different weapons. Surveillance footage and cell phone videos linked Almond to the crime, showing him in the red vehicle holding a gun with an extended clip. Both suspects were denied bail and are currently awaiting trial.
