Alexis S. Winston, a 23-year-old African American woman, was tragically found dead in her East St. Louis apartment on August 8, 2017. The discovery was made by the East St. Louis Police Department at around 4:00 AM, following a report of a possible home invasion at the John Robinson Homes public housing facility on Market Street. Alexis had been shot multiple times, and her body was found inside her apartment. Her one-year-old daughter was also present in the apartment but was unharmed.
