Semaj L. Berry, a 17-year-old African American male, was tragically shot to death on October 6, 2017, in the East Chatham neighborhood of Chicago, IL. The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. in the 800 block of East 83rd Street. Officers responding to the scene found Berry unresponsive, and he was later pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 5 p.m. The Cook County medical examiner's office determined that Berry died from a gunshot wound to the chest following an autopsy.
