On February 22, 2018, 25-year-old Hispanic male Sergio Quiroz and his girlfriend, 22-year-old Danielle Son, were found dead in Blackhawk Park in Rockford, Illinois. Both had been reported missing days earlier, prompting a police investigation. Danielle Son's family had not heard from her since February 17 and discovered her two young children, aged 11 months and 2 years, alone but unharmed in her home. This led authorities to suspect foul play.
