On April 30, 2018, 29-year-old African American male, Clarence Dabney, was fatally shot in Chicago's University Village neighborhood. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. near the intersection of 13th and Throop streets, close to Chicago Tech Academy, which subsequently went into lockdown. Dabney was seated in his car when he was struck multiple times on the left side of his body. Residents reported hearing seven to eight gunshots just before the incident.
