On April 30, 2018, 29-year-old African American male, Clarence Dabney, was fatally shot in Chicago's University Village neighborhood. The incident occurred around 2 p.m. near the intersection of 13th and Throop streets, close to Chicago Tech Academy, which subsequently went into lockdown.
