China Marie Lyons-Upshaw, a 17-year-old African American girl from Chicago, IL, tragically lost her life on May 26, 2018. She was shot in the chest inside an apartment in the Bronzeville neighborhood. Witnesses reported that a man was playing with a handgun when it fell to the ground and discharged, fatally wounding China.
