Marquell Hicks, a 23-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on July 8, 2018, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side of Chicago. Hicks and another man, aged 19, were standing on a sidewalk in the 5500 block of West Haddon Avenue when an assailant dressed in all black opened fire from an alley. Hicks suffered two gunshot wounds to the chest and was transported to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where he was pronounced dead.
