Deshawn Owens, a 21-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on September 25, 2018, in the North Lawndale neighborhood of Chicago, IL. Owens was walking to a store when he was approached by an assailant who emerged from an alley and opened fire. He was struck in the head and thigh, and despite being rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, he was pronounced dead later that morning. The incident occurred in the 1300 block of South Millard Avenue, just a block away from Owens' residence.
