On the evening of January 11, 2019, Calvin Lewis, a 35-year-old African American male, was fatally shot in Chicago's West Garfield Park neighborhood. The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. in the 100 block of South Kildare Avenue. A black car approached Calvin Lewis and another 35-year-old man, and an individual inside the vehicle opened fire.
