Gregory G. Brown, a 36-year-old African American male from Crest Hill, IL, was tragically killed on the night of April 30, 2019. He was gunned down by a single bullet in the parking lot of a Denny's restaurant on Plainfield Road in Joliet, IL. The incident occurred around 10 p.m., and video surveillance footage obtained by Joliet police showed that Brown had been inside the Denny's restaurant talking with Bobbie Ollom, a 26-year-old woman, shortly before his death.
The Will County Coroner's Office confirmed that Brown died from a single gunshot wound.
The investigation revealed that Bobbie Ollom, along with her co-defendants Christopher C. Parker, 25, and Joshua T. Anderson, 22, both from Chicago, were involved in the crime. Ollom was not the shooter but played a role in setting up the robbery that led to Brown's murder. According to court records, Ollom had lured Brown to the Denny's parking lot under the pretense of a sexual encounter for $850. Once Brown entered Ollom's car, Parker, who was hiding in the back seat, shot him in the head. The suspects then removed Brown's body from the car, went through his pockets, and left him on the ground.
Following the homicide, Ollom and Anderson were captured several days later by authorities in Burlington, Iowa. Ollom reached a plea bargain with the Will County State's Attorney's Office, agreeing to testify truthfully against her co-defendants in exchange for the dismissal of her first-degree murder charges. She pleaded guilty to armed robbery and remains in custody with a $5 million bail. Parker and Anderson are both awaiting their trials in Will County, with their bail also set at $5 million. The case has garnered significant attention due to the brutal nature of the crime and the involvement of multiple suspects.
