Elijha James Booker, a 14-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on May 11, 2019, in Champaign, Illinois. The incident occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. when Champaign Police responded to a private residence in the 1600 block of Hedge Road. Upon arrival, officers found Elijha with life-threatening injuries from an apparent gunshot wound. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital shortly after.
