Leifshorn Hooks, a 54-year-old African American woman, tragically lost her life on May 12, 2019, in Westchester, Illinois. husband, Reginald Hooks, who was 55 years old at the time. According to the Westchester Police Chief, Brian Stelter, officers were called to the scene around 8:40 p.m. after a witness, who had been asked by Reginald to check on Leifshorn following an argument, discovered her body and called 911. Reginald Hooks was subsequently arrested at his workplace and charged with first-degree murder.
The case was handled by the Westchester police and the West Suburban Major Crimes Unit. During a bond hearing at the Cook County courthouse in Maywood, Judge Stanley L. Hill ordered Reginald Hooks to be held without bail. The court proceedings continued with a scheduled date set for May 28, 2019.
