Deante Thompson, a 17-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on May 23, 2019, in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred around 12:25 a.m. when Deante was standing outside with a 15-year-old friend in the 6900 block of South Maplewood Avenue. According to reports, an unknown individual approached them on foot and opened fire. Deante was struck in the chest and was rushed to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.
