Harvey Adams, a 34 year old Black, was shot in broad daylight on August 30, 2019, in Chicago's Marquette Park neighborhood.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m., he was standing near a vehicle in the 7300 block of South Maplewood Avenue when two people emerged from a gangway. One opened fire, and both fled back through the same gangway, leaving the street jarred by the sudden burst of gunfire.
Hit multiple times, Harvey Adams was rushed to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead that day.
An autopsy determined he died of multiple gunshot wounds and ruled the death a homicide.
Officials identified him as a Gage Park resident, placing the shock of his killing not only on the block where it occurred but in the neighborhood he called home.
Detectives opened a homicide investigation, but at the time authorities reported no arrests. The description of the assailants stopped with their swift escape through the gangway, and subsequent public reports offered no named suspects or charges tied to the case.
